Covid 19 & Furlough Changes

 

Following a raft of announcements on furlough and other support available we thought it was time to update the guidance on here.

The information is correct as of 23rd September 2021. Please check the Welsh Government and UK Government Covid Pages regularly as this is now a quickly developing situation.

Self- Employment Income Support Scheme:

The final fifth grant deadline is 30th September 2021. The grant covers 1st May to 30th of September, The eligibility criteria is the same as the SEISS 4 grant. The maximum grant amount anyone can claim is £7,500.

Furlough is ending:

Furlough is ending on 30th September 2021. You can keep staff on furlough until the end of the month, however arrangements need to be made to plan their return to work. If you need any support submitting your final furlough claim, please don’t hesitate to contact us.

If you are sick or need to self isolate

If you have tested positive or you have been in close contact with someone who tests positive, you may be told to self-isolate for 10 days. If this means you cannot work you may be able to apply for universal credit, although this is dependent on your savings, other income etc.

You may be eligible for Statutory Sick Pay or alternatively you may be eligible to apply for a local council grant to help support you during this time.

VAT: reduced rate for hospitality, holiday accommodation and attractions

The government made an announcement on 8 July 2020 allowing VAT registered businesses to apply a temporary 5% reduced rate of VAT to certain supplies relating to:

  • hospitality

  • hotel and holiday accommodation

  • admissions to certain attractions

The VAT rate is changing to 12.5% from 1st October 2021 to 31st March 2022.
